ChatGPT Prompt Optimizer

Ask ChatGPT for five things in a single paragraph and three of them come back. Headed sections are the fix: each request becomes its own line item instead of a clause competing with four others. Drop in what you already have and see what changes once the same words are given a shape ChatGPT follows.

How it works

  • 1

    Markdown headings, not prose

Sections become `## Role`, `## Task`, `## Requirements`, `## Output format`. ChatGPT treats headed sections as separate instructions and misses fewer of them.

  • 2

    Requirements as a numbered list

Multi-part asks buried in a paragraph get partially answered. Numbered requirements are the single cheapest fix for that.

  • 3

    Scored for ChatGPT

Model fit rewards the structure ChatGPT responds to, so the same prompt scores differently here than it would for Claude.

When to use it

  • Custom instructions and saved prompts

A structured prompt is easier to reuse in a custom GPT or a saved prompt, because each section can be edited independently.

  • Long, multi-part requests

When you need five things at once, sections and numbers keep all five in the answer.

  • Getting consistent formatting

An explicit output format section is the difference between a table every time and a table sometimes.

Frequently asked questions

  • Does this work with the free ChatGPT plan?

Yes. The output is plain text you paste into any version of ChatGPT — free or paid, web or app.

  • Which ChatGPT model should I use it with?

Any of them. The structure helps most on longer or multi-part tasks, whichever model is behind the chat box.

  • Why does my optimized prompt use Markdown headings?

Because ChatGPT reliably respects them as section boundaries. Claude does better with XML-style tags, which is why the Claude page produces a different shape from the same input.

  • Do you send my prompt to OpenAI?

No. The rewrite runs on our own provider. You paste the result into ChatGPT yourself, and "Try in ChatGPT" copies it to your clipboard rather than putting it in a URL.
