How it works
- 1
Seven weighted dimensions
Clarity, context, specificity, constraints, output format, examples and model fit. Each is scored 0-100 and weighted into one overall score.
- 2
Deterministic, not a model's opinion
The same prompt always gets the same score. Scoring looks for concrete signals — a stated role, a named audience, numbers, a format, examples — so a score can be explained and reproduced.
- 3
Ranked recommendations
Fixes are listed weakest-dimension-first, so the top suggestion is the one that will move the score most.
When to use it
Checking a prompt before you rely on it
Before a prompt goes into a workflow or a doc your team uses, see whether it stands on its own.
Learning what good looks like
Score a weak prompt, then a strong one, and watch which dimensions separate them. It is a faster way to learn prompting than reading tips.
Comparing prompts for the same job
Two prompts, two scores, same scale. Useful when a teammate insists their version is better.
Frequently asked questions
How is the prompt score calculated?
Clarity 20%, context 15%, specificity 15%, constraints 15%, output format 15%, examples 10% and model fit 10%. Each dimension is scored from signals in the text itself, never randomly.
Does analyzing a prompt use an AI model?
No. Analysis is deterministic and runs locally in your browser, which is why it is instant and unlimited.
What is a good prompt score?
Above 70 is solid for everyday work. Above 85 usually means role, context, constraints and format are all explicit. Below 40 normally means the prompt is one line with no context.
Why does my score change when I switch models?
Model fit is one of the seven dimensions. A prompt with XML sections scores higher for Claude than for ChatGPT, and an image prompt is judged on visual description rather than instructions.
