Claude Prompt Optimizer

Claude is unusually good at long, carefully separated context — and XML-style tags are how you separate it. This optimizer rewrites your prompt into tagged sections like <context> and <instructions>, and scores the result for Claude.

How it works

  • 1

    Tagged sections

Role, context, instructions, constraints and output format become explicit tags. Claude keeps them apart, which matters most when the context is long.

  • 2

    Room for your material

The structure leaves an obvious place to paste documents, transcripts or code — inside the context tag, where it will not be mistaken for an instruction.

  • 3

    Scored for Claude

Model fit rewards tagged structure here. Paste the same prompt into the ChatGPT page and you will get Markdown headings instead.

When to use it

  • Working with long documents

Contracts, transcripts, research papers. Tags keep "here is the material" separate from "here is what to do with it".

  • Analysis you want to trust

Explicit constraints — cite the section, say when it is not stated — reduce confident guessing.

  • Writing in a specific voice

A voice section with two examples does far more than the word "professional".

Frequently asked questions

  • Why does Claude prefer XML tags?

Tags make boundaries unambiguous, which matters when a prompt carries a lot of pasted material. Anthropic's own guidance recommends them, and in practice Claude follows tagged instructions more consistently.

  • Can I use the result in Claude Code?

Choose Claude Code as the target instead. It produces an agentic structure — goal, context, requirements, approach, verification — rather than a writing framework.

  • Does it work with Claude's free tier?

Yes. The optimizer produces text; where you paste it is up to you.

  • Will it shorten my prompt?

It can. Quick mode tightens a prompt that is already good rather than padding it, and Auto picks Quick when your prompt already scores 70 or more.
